Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect from my portrait session?

You can expect that the softness and simplicity of natural light will flatter your skin tones and complement the environmental setting in which you choose to be photographed. Natural expressions will be encouraged through relaxed posing, and a casual approach.

How long will my portrait session take?

Your portrait session will range from an hour to an hour and a half depending upon the ages and number of subjects being photographed. Early morning or late afternoon hours provide the best lighting for environmental portraits. It is best not to schedule other appointments close to your session time, so you can relax and enjoy the experience.

Where will I be photographed?

Natural Light Portraits will be taken at your home or a selected location. Locations may include your garden, vacation home, the beach, a favorite park, a meadow filled with wild flowers, or indoors by natural window light.

What does my session fee cover?

The session fee covers the time and talent of the photographer. The session fee includes editing the images and uploading them to an online gallery. The session fee also includes a personal consultation with Deborah after the photo shoot to assist you with your portrait selections. The session fee also covers post production work so that you will look your best. The session fee must be received in advance in order to reserve your time and date. The session fee does not apply to your portrait order.

What should I wear?

Clothing should complement, not dominate the portrait. Solid colors, harmonious tones and simple styles look best. Matchy-matchy is out. Coordination is in.  The color blue looks good on just about everyone. Darker colors are slenderizing. When in doubt, keep it simple. A clothing consultation is included in your portrait session fee. Please feel free to call or text me pictures of outfits you may be considering. I’m always happy to help.

What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate?

Cloudy or overcast days produce a softly diffused light which is flattering for portraits. In the event of inclement weather, I will contact you to reschedule the portrait session at our mutual convenience.

How much will it cost?

Deborah offers something for everyone’s budget. Custom portrait packages are available starting at $275. Fine art prints can be purchased individually and are priced according to size. Digital files for holiday greeting cards are also available for purchase. Detailed pricing information will be sent to you prior to your portrait session.

When will my gallery be ready for viewing?

Your online gallery will be available for viewing in seven business days after the photo shoot. Once you have had a chance to view the gallery and select your favorite images, Deborah will contact you to arrange an appointment, so that you can order prints. The ordering appointment can take anywhere from one to two hours, so please allow sufficient time to make your portrait selections. All decision-makers must be present at the appointment.

When will my portraits be ready?

Portrait orders are to be placed at the time of your ordering appointment and require a fifty percent deposit. The balance is due upon receipt of your portraits. A quality portrait is a lifetime investment, so please allow four weeks for delivery.

When is the best time to have a portrait taken?

Now is the best time to have your portrait taken! Don’t wait because your six year-old has missing teeth or your teen-ager is in braces or because you would love to lose 10 pounds. The important thing is to document your family at this particular moment in time. Embrace life’s imperfections! Call today to reserve your time and date.
